- Manchester United have been handed a huge boost with players returning
- Romelu Lukaku and Marouane Fellaini will be available for the tie with Derby
- Long-term absentee Michael Carrick has also returned to first team training
Romelu Lukaku and Marouane Fellaini are available for Manchester United’s FA Cup tie against Derby, and there was even better news for the club after it emerged that Michael Carrick has returned to training.
Lukaku missed United’s win at Everton at the weekend after he was carried off with concussion against Southampton, while Fellaini has not played since the end of November due to a knee injury.
Carrick has been out for even longer following a heart scare suffered after the League Cup tie against Burton Albion in September, and the United captain required a minor procedure to correct an irregular heartbeat.

Manager Jose Mourinho also revealed that Antonio Valencia will be fit to return next week and confirmed that Sergio Romero will start in goal against Derby instead of David De Gea.
‘Romelu is okay,’ said Mourinho. ‘From the injured players, Fellaini is back and Michael Carrick is back to training, not competition but he’s back to training with the team.
‘Antonio Valencia will be back to the team next week, but won’t play tomorrow. So the situation is improving for us.
‘I’m going to play this match like a Premier League match. I’m going to play Romero because Romero is a top goalkeeper and he deserves to play, and David deserves a rest.
‘Romero is going to be Argentina’s goalkeeper in the World Cup in a few months, so Romero plays. Apart from that I am going to play with a team I consider a strong team.’
